Why Your Meta Ads Get Clicks But No Calls (And How to Fix It)

By Liam5 August 20264 min read

If you have ever boosted a post on Facebook or Instagram, seen a bunch of likes roll in, and then had your phone stay completely silent, you are not alone.

Most tradies and mechanics on the Gold Coast are wasting money on Meta Ads because they are paying for attention instead of paying for leads. There is a massive difference between getting someone to look at a photo of a ute and getting them to actually pick up the phone and ask for a quote.

Here is why your ads are failing to convert — and exactly how to fix it.

Stop Boosting Posts. Start Running Campaigns.

Hitting the "Boost Post" button is the fastest way to burn your marketing budget. When you boost a post, Meta's algorithm looks for people who are likely to engage with it — meaning they will like, comment, or share. It does not look for people who are likely to buy.

If you want actual enquiries, you need to use Meta Ads Manager and run a Lead Generation campaign. This tells the algorithm to find people who have a history of filling out forms or clicking through to request a quote.

Your Offer Needs to Be Better Than "Call Us"

"Quality mechanical repairs, call us today" is not an offer. It is just a statement of what you do. Every single one of your competitors is saying the exact same thing.

A real offer gives the customer a reason to act right now. For an automotive workshop, it might be a free safety inspection with their next logbook service. For an electrician, it could be a fixed-price switchboard safety check.

Make it specific, make it valuable, and make it incredibly easy for them to say yes.

    Make the Form Stupidly Simple

When someone clicks your ad, they should not have to fill out a novel. If your lead form asks for their name, phone number, email, address, vehicle make, model, year, and a description of the problem, they will bounce.

Ask for the bare minimum: Name, phone number, and a quick dropdown of what they need. You can get the rest of the details when you call them back.

The Real Secret: Speed to Lead

Running the ad is only 20% of the job. What happens after the lead comes in is where most businesses fail. If a lead sits in your inbox for three hours while you are under a car or on a roof, they have already called someone else.

You need an automated system that sends an instant SMS the second they enquire, letting them know you have received it and will call them shortly. This buys you time and stops them from continuing their search.
